MOUNTAIN BIKES AND CANOEING
MOUNTAIN BIKES
Whether it's business or pleasure that brings you to Worcester, enjoy some energetic downtime by hopping on one of our mountain bikes and head for the hills or one of the trails, or if this is too much like hard work, explore the tree lined streets of Worcester and be amazed by the myriad of gabled buildings. The bikes are available at the guest house and groups of 10 or more need to be booked in advance to ensure we have enough bikes and the right sizes. Helmets are also supplied with the bikes.
We also offer guided tours either by driving out to to a point of interesting terrain and scenic beauty or by leaving from the guest house and doing a circular route back again. The 2010 ABSA CAPE EPIC will be hosted in Worcester for two nights so one can do part of these trails, some of which are extremely tough or gentle rides with not much "off road" single track stuff!! It's all up to you.
BIKE HIRE:
Full day: R150
Half day: R75
By the hour: R35
Guide: R500 per day
A deposit of either an ID, passport or credit card are required and will be returned on safe return of the bicycles.
CANOEING ON THE BREEDE RIVER........purpose, to have as much fun as possible!!
Join JB and his professional team of "Breede Adventures" for a wonderfully relaxing time on the Breede River. Out of school holidays and during the week you are literally guaranteed the river to yourself as we experienced with our German visitors the other day. We felt like the river belonged to us alone. The weekends are busier and need to be booked well in advance. A wonderful experience with family, friends or work colleagues.....the best excuse for a team building day.
The base camp is a fifteen minute drive from Worcester where you'll be kitted with your life jackets and the safety instructions and etiqutte will be carefully explained. A hearty breakfast is served here under the trees on the river bank. You will then be driven to the start 10 kms up the river.
The canoes are the fibreglass Mohawks which are extremely stable and comfortable, and if you've never canoed before this is really the place to start. It is a wide ("Breede" in Afrikaans) river with only a few slightly tricky bends to negotiate. It is a wonderful 3 to 4 hours on the water with plenty of places to stop and swim. There is fun to be had on the "nappy run" if the river is full enough and those that enjoy water will love wallowing like a hippo as you float down the river in your "nappies".
A lunch stop is made about half way down the river in a cool shady spot where one can enjoy the quiet gentle sound of the water and the birds twittering in the trees overhead. Sometimes one is lucky enough to spot the fish eagles, brown headed and malachite kingfishers and the occasional otter.
Meals are optional but must be taken by the whole group. A minimum booking of 6 people is required, which will cost R1790.00
Canoeing: R290pp
Continental Breakfast: R40pp
Lunch picnic: R60pp
WHAT TO BRING: Hats, sunblock, costumes, shoes that go in water but will not slip off your feet, string for hats & glasses, and towels or kikoys. A dry bucket for your binoculars, cameras and extra dry clothes is available in each boat.
